Admission Requirements

Do I have to pay the administration fee in case I am applying for the potential unguaranteed EMJM scholarship? Is there any exception?

The administration fee is 790 CZK (approx. 31 €). The administration fee is compulsory for all applicants. No exceptions are possible. Please do not contact us regarding this.

How to pay for the application? Do I need to have a Czech bank account? Do I have to pay in CZK?

The smoothest way to pay the administration fee is by paying with a debit/credit card – you do not need to have an account in CZK – just follow the instructions in the “payment gate.”

Do I have to submit hard copies of the documents?

The documents related to the GLODEP application are submitted electronically with your e-application. No hard copies are required.  Please note that after clicking on the submit button, it will no longer be possible to change the uploaded documents.

Which academic backgrounds are eligible?

You are eligible to apply if you have completed at least a bachelor’s degree. At the same time, you have to certify your bachelor’s degree before enrolment to the program (beginning of September). While the program is open to applicants from diverse disciplinary backgrounds, knowledge, and experience, a suitable applicant typically has excellent academic results in a relevant degree (e.g. development studies, economics, geography, international relations, and sociology); strong interest in international development with aspirations to work in the area related to development policy; very good command of English.

Can I apply for GLODEP if I have not finished my bachelor’s degree yet?

Yes, you can apply for GLODEP if you have not finished your bachelor’s degree yet. Applicants without completed tertiary education must provide a Declaration of Honour stating when they expect to receive it (if they are admitted to the program, they must provide the diploma and its recognition for enrolment in early September 2025).

Which English language certificates are acceptable?

Please see the Criteria and Requirements – section Proof of English proficiency. Your language certificate must be attached to the application by the deadline of the call. Students who do not have a language certificate are ineligible for the program.

How can I apply for GLODEP?

You apply for admission via the online application portal at Palacký University. Please follow the instructions in the section Application carefully and attach all required documents.

I would like to add one attachment to the application after submitting it. Is this possible?

Unfortunately, we cannot consider any documents received after the scholarship application deadline. The application must be submitted and paid before the deadline – 31st January 2025; otherwise, it is assessed as invalid/ineligible. The payment must be sent before 31st January 2025.

I would like to change any attachments in the application after submitting it – is it possible?

It is impossible to change anything (any attachments) in the application after submitting or after the deadline.

Please do not send us emails with attached documents since they will not be considered. Attach all relevant documents to your online application only.

What does the Declaration of Honour mean? What should be stated in this document?

In some exceptional cases (stated in the Criteria and Requirements), you can use the template for the document “Declaration of Honour” (template in section Criteria and Requirements) – you are declaring in this document (under your Honour) that – for example, –  you are an English native speaker and/or ii) explaining the reasons, why you can’t have your passport valid minimum until September 2027, etc.

The document “Declaration of Honour” should contain your full name, date of birth, statement you want to declare, and signature. See the template in the Criteria and Requirements section.

Visa and Housing

In case I do need a visa, how do I apply for it?

National embassies handle visa applications. You can apply for a long-term residence permit/ long-term visa (preferred – shorter procedure) at the Czech Republic embassy according to your nationality. For more information, consult the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic.

How long does the visa procedure take?

The duration of the visa procedure depends on your home country and on the agreement that exists between your country and the Czech Republic. In our experience, three to four months are quite common. Therefore, you should start the process as soon as possible. Please check the information on the webpage at the Czech Embassy.

Are the GLODEP Consortium universities helping me with an accommodation arrangement?

You will be helped to arrange the accommodation at each university. During the internship/research period in the 4th semester, our partners can provide you with advice regarding your accommodation, but in most cases, you will have to arrange your own.

What are the costs of living in university cities?

Living costs vary between the various university cities. You can check the Numbeo website to calculate the living costs city by city.
