Palacky University Olomouc, Czech Republic

Palacky University in Olomouc, the Coordinating Institution, is the second oldest university in the Czech Republic (founded in 1573) and educates almost 22 000 students at 8 faculties. The Department of Development & Environmental Studies (located in the Faculty of Science) is involved in the GLODEP master and offers the International Development Studies program at bachelor, master and doctoral level. Thus is the flagship university of development studies in Central and Eastern Europe. All programs are taught in Czech and the master program is also taught in English. The department is very active in international cooperation (e.g. student and staff exchanges with about 25 universities within the Erasmus+ program). In 2015 the department began the publication of the journal Development, Environment and Foresight.

University of Clermont Auvergne, France

The University Clermont Auvergne is brand new: it has been founded on January first 2017 with the merger of the two universities of Clermont-Ferrand, both created in the 16th century. With 35 000 students, among whom 4600 are of foreign nationalities, 900 are PhD students, around 1300 researchers and professors-researchers, 35 research centers, this new dynamic attractive and responsible university is open on its social, economic and cultural surroundings, on its territories and on the world. In 1976, The School of Economics, involved in the GLODEP program, designed a niche strategy of international development and thus the master program in Development Economics emerged (currently with different specializations – e.g. public finance, health economics), part of which is taught in English. The research centre CERDI (Centre for Studies and Research on International Development) was established in the same year. CERDI is affiliated with the CNRS (National Centre for Scientific Research). This affiliation is a recognition of research excellence and it welcomes additional researchers in the field of international development economics.

University of Pavia, Italy

The University of Pavia is one of the oldest universities in Europe, founded in 1361. Today Pavia is a research university, offering a wide variety of disciplinary and interdisciplinary teaching organized in 18 Departments, and the university has study programs at all levels. Currently the university has 24,000 students. GLODEP builds on the track of International Economic Integration and Development of the Master programme in Economics, Finance and International Integration taught by the Department of Economics and Management. In 2015, the long term cooperation between the University of Pavia and Bethlehem University led to the recognition of the UNESCO UNITWIN Network on International Cooperation and Development, which has been expanded into other master programs of the Network. The University of Pavia is part of research and professional networks such as NOHA, EADI, Cooperation and Development Network and NAF International Research Network.
