People in Need, Czech Republic

People in Need (PIN) is a non-governmental, non-profit organization based on the ideas of humanism, freedom, equality and solidarity, and was established in 1992 by a group of war and foreign correspondents who were not satisfied with just bringing back information to the Czech Republic. In the twenty four years of its existence People in Need has become one of the biggest non-profit organization in Central Europe. Apart from humanitarian aid and human rights, it targets the field of education and helps people living in social exclusion. People in Need is a member of Alliance2015, a strategic network of seven European non-governmental organizations engaged in humanitarian assistance and development projects. This collaboration yields effective results, both in the target countries and in campaigns aimed at influencing the attitudes of politicians and the general public in Europe.
Possible content of the internship in the 4th semester: support for desk officers (administrative work, project support); research, text editing, editing webpages, translations; writing final reports and analysing the data from different sectors (education, nutrition, good governance, social support and inclusion, sustainable livelihood, humanitarian aid), working in financial department.

DEMAS – Association for Democracy Assistance and Human Rights, Prague, Czech Republic 
“Ready to serve the cause of democracy, human rights and civil society whenever and wherever the need arises.”
DEMAS, an independent platform of Czech non-governmental organisations (NGOs), was established in 2008. Currently DEMAS comprises 14 NGOs that have over many years demonstrated their commitment to the support of democracy assistance, human rights, and civil society in the Czech Republic and abroad.
DEMAS builds on the solid foundations laid by the important segment of the Czech non-profit sector engaged in the field of democracy assistance, on the Czech experience and know-how of the transition to democracy, and also on an enduring sense of shared responsibility for democratic development in countries less fortunate than the Czech Republic. Within the framework of DEMAS, the members are able to identify their common interests and values and co-operate more effectively in achieving the maximum impact in the field of human rights.
PDCS – Partners for Democratic Change Slovakia, Slovakia

Also we appreciate that we collaborate with professionals not only coming from civil society but also from academic environment in realm such as development which is still rare and so valuable expertise in region of Central Europe.“
PDCS is a non-governmental organization providing professional training and facilitation services, consultancy and advisory services in areas of conflict resolution, support for dialogue in society, citizen participation and civil society development in Slovakia and abroad. PDCS was founded in 1991 at the Comenius University in Bratislava as part of the international educational program. PDCS works to co-create and strengthen democratic culture, and to spread participative approaches and mechanisms for dialogue and conflict prevention. It provides help in international development programs and arranges cultural dialogues among various interest groups. PDCS fulfils its mission by working with non-profit organizations, public administration institutions and cross-sector partnerships.
Possible content of the internship in the 4th semester: project assistants to our ongoing projects on capacity building of local civil society in different countries (e.g.: Ukraine, Albania), global development education at Slovak universities and civic actors in conflict (networking and conflict transformation dealing with value based conflicts in V4 countries, Romania, Bulgaria and Germany).
TPSF – Travaux Publics Sans Frontieres, Cournon d´Avergne, France
As far as our role in the programme is concerned, we can make interventions on development issues, especially on the problems of designing development projects with concrete examples with different levels of complexity, including the essential issues of people’s involvement, sustainability and financing.
Travaux Publics Sans Frontières (TPSF) presents itself as a Project Management NGO. Its objectives are to improve the living conditions of poor populations, mainly in developing countries, in the field of basic infrastructure, through vocational training in Public Works and the implementation of sustainable local development projects in partnership with public and private actors. Its domains of action: access to water, electrification, roads, waste, education and vocational training, support for public actors and local authorities.
Its strengths are a good capacity to search, integrate and synergize Partners/Providers in its projects (TPSF is now running several projects in Madagascar, Cameroun, Senegal, Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire…), ability to expertise the local available skills, a good circulation of internal and external information, flexibility in its organization.
TPSF has developed a work methodology consisting of in-depth analysis of needs, determination of the actions to be carried out, research of funding, integration of partners / technical services providers, transfer of technologies and skills through vocational training of local actors. TPSF coordinates monitors and evaluates each project.
Possible content of the internship in the 4th semester – We can welcome a student on multiple subjects ranging from the development of our NGO, to the search for project funding, to the construction of a concrete project or project management.

EDI is a leading, internationally focused research firm which works with clients from around the world and operates out of the UK, Tanzania and Uganda. EDI is vastly experienced in the design and implementation of a wide range of projects covering Impact Assessments, LSMS-style surveys, large scale panel surveys and more. Sectors include: health, education, agriculture, anthropometric and other socio-economic surveys. EDI provides a full range of professional services to support research for clients from project conception through to fieldwork and ultimately to data provision and analysis.
Possible content of the internship in the 4th semester: design, implementation and management of large-scale socio-economic surveys and impact evaluations in developing countries (sampling, survey methodology, project planning, questionnaire design, fieldwork planning, data processing), evaluation of data quality (data collection modes, quality control, paradata analysis, workflow of data analysis).

We cooperate with the GLODEP Master by sharing experiences and reflections that arise from our experience in the field, where the application of the theory for sustainable development face the challenges of a rapidly changing world. From the meetings with young people, every year about 100 opportunities for their involvement and professionalization such as internships or European volunteer programs, to build the future together, in a more fair world.
